About School
Dr. Annapurna Academy Village Terakhas, Chinhat, Lucknow (UP) was established in 2003 and got recognition for Class 10 from the Board of Education Uttar Pradesh, on 14th August 2006. Late Sri Basu Dev Dwivedi conceptualized and created the school, by an initial donation of 1 acre of land, to commemorate the life of Dr Smt. Annapurna Dwivedi, an eminent social worker, and Homeopathic doctor. The school since its inception has focused on empowering the girl child through quality education and all-round value-based personality development. It is managed by Man Bhawan Samiti.
The school campus is spread over 1 acre of lush green fertile land with a large playground for sports and outdoor activities. The school has classes from Nursery to Class 10 and though the focus of the school is on girls, it is co-educational. It has an attached pre-primary section. The medium of instruction is English up to Class 5. The academic session starts in April.
The school has a well-designed building. The classrooms are 20 feet by 20 feet in dimension, as prescribed by the Department of Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh. All the classrooms have large windows to ensure a bright, well-lit and airy atmosphere. The school campus is surrounded by a 10 feet high boundary wall for full security of the premises and the students. Besides the regular electric connection, the school also has adequate power backup. There is provision for safe drinking water from its own submersible pump. It has separate toilets for boys and girls. There is a well-equipped library with books on a wide range of subjects. A ramp has been constructed for especially abled children to access classrooms. There is a computer lab with modern hardware, desktops and laptops and educational software. The school also has a smart class. The school also admits especially abled children and currently there is a deaf and dumb child on its rolls. Besides providing education to specially abled children, this helps sensitize all school children.
